South Sudan

South Sudan

South Sudan is one of the newest, as well as neediest, nations in the world. It declared independence from Sudan in 2011. Fighting erupted among rival political factions in South Sudan in 2013, leading to a bloody civil war that lasted until 2020. Estimates are that 400,000 people were killed and more than 4 million displaced (out of an estimated total population of around 12 million). This also devastated an already fragile economy.

There is a great need for Bibles and other resources for pastors in South Sudan. We were recently able to help provide almost 600 Arabic study Bibles to two of our ministry partners in Uganda. Most of these will go to pastors in South Sudan and Sudan. These Bibles are the equivalent of the NIV Study Bible in English.

Here is a group of pastors in South Sudan receiving their study Bibles at a training event. Most of these pastors could never afford a Bible like this. This is a resource that will greatly assist them in studying and preparing sermons.
